Two contemporary artists, Yan Pei-Ming and Stephan Balkenhol, pay tribute to Laboratoires Pierre Fabre eponymous founder

On the occasion of the first anniversary of the death of their founder, Laboratoires Pierre Fabre asked two internationally recognized visual artists and attached to France, the German sculptor Stephan Balkenhol and from Chinese origin painter Yan Pei-Ming, to pay tribute to the memory of Mr. Pierre Fabre.

The project: a 9 months genesis

Through his company, moved in 50 years from a pharmacy in the city of Castres to a pharmaceutical group operating globally, Mr. Pierre Fabre will have built an original and daring oeuvre. Deeply attached to the sense of beauty, full of great sensitivity for art, architecture and culture, he was a great sponsor that supported the major museums in the Midi-Pyrenees region and commissioned the architect Roger Taillibert , member of the Institute, for the construction of several landmark buildings, including the Centre for Research and Development Pierre Fabre located on the campus of Toulouse Oncopole.

Laboratoires Pierre Fabre have thus embarked on a new and original artistic adventure in France. Together with entreprisecontemporaine®, they went to international artists likely to embody the vision, energy and humanistic values of their founder.

15 employees, representative of the main activities of the company and with various backgrounds, were invited to participate in the selection process. After a final presentation to the family and friends of Mr. Pierre Fabre in March 2014, two artists were finally selected: Yan Pei-Ming for a triptych painted portrait, which will be presented to employees on key sites of the company, and Stephan Balkenhol for a statue in polychrome bronze, installed on the site of the Pierre Fabre Foundation.
